Breast feeding positions for women

Your baby will become healthier and will have higher immunity levels while breastfeeding. It is recommended that you breastfeed your baby for at least eight months. It is very important to follow certain precautions when breastfeeding a baby or breastfeeding a toddler.

You need to give importance to when it comes to breastfeeding, this is the breastfeeding position. You need to care for breastfeeding positions that make you and your baby feel comfortable.

Another important aspect that needs to be taken into consideration is how easily accessible your breast is to your baby. Your baby shouldn’t have to search for it!

It is essential that you find a position which makes your baby latch on to your breast easily and comfortably. Here are few breastfeeding positions that you can follow when breastfeeding a newborn baby.

1. Cradle Position: In this position, you need to place your babys head in the crook of your arm. Support your babys back and bottom with your arm and hand, and make the baby lie sideways, facing you. Your breast should be in front of your babys face.

2. Lying Down Position: In this position, you need to lie on your side with your baby facing you. Prop yourself up with your shoulders and head using some extra pillows for support. This should make you feel comfortable. This position is best suited if you are recovering from a C-section.

3. Football Position: In this breastfeeding position, you need to tuck your baby under your arm like a football, with your babys head resting on your hand. Support your babys body with your forearm, and let him/her latch on to your breast. This position is often recommended if you have undergone a C-section.

4. On Your Lap: Besides the above three positions, you can also cradle your baby on your lap and use the arm opposite to the breast your baby is feeding on to lend support to your baby.

In case you are blessed with twins you can opt for the football position or the lap position, whichever is more comfortable for you.
